Aladdin – Pompey Panto: Kings Theatre Portsmouth – 5th – 31st December

Everyone loves a pantomime at Christmas, and the Kings Theatre Portsmouth has a real treat in store for you this year. They are putting on Aladdin, starring none other than Shaun Williamson – otherwise known as Barry from Eastenders, or ‘Barry from Eastender’ from Extras!

It’s a fantastic cast for this year, which also includes Pompey panto legend Jack Edwards as Widow Twankey in his 11th year, and TVs own Rustie Lee as the Genie of the Lamp. As you might imagine, there are going to be a lot of big belly laughs in this show. Plus, a proper West End quality cast take the rest of the roles, so the vocals will be on point.

Add some spectacular costumes and incredible sets, and you have a Christmas bonanza of a show that will keep the whole family entertained throughout.

You know the story already – Aladdin goes up against the evil Abanazar in a tale full of magic, laughs, and true love – but you have never seen it told like this before. There are loads of toilet rolls involved apparently…

Oh, and in a break from tradition, there is an Adults Only 18+ version of the show on one night only, December the 29th. Expect lots of jokes about things growing when rubbed if you go to that one!

Dates and Ticket Prices

The show opens on the 5th of December and runs through to the 31st of December, so it’s on for most of the month. Plus, there are lots of two show and even three show days, so you’re not short of options when it comes to booking tickets.

Tickets are priced as follows:

  • Band A – £32.00
  • Band B – £30.00
  • Band C – £20.00
  • Band D – £15.00
  • Band E – £10.00

There are a handful of shows with prices a few pounds more expensive in each band, but these are those shows closest to Christmas Day. Tickets for children and concessions can be booked at a £2.00 discount regardless of the price.

The shows start at all sorts of times from 10:30 in the morning to 6:30 in the evening, it’s a real mixed bag.

There are a few special performances to be aware of too: On the 6th of December a BSL (signed) performance will take place at 10:30am, and on the 11th of December there will be a relaxed performance.
